Since Ron Paul announced his candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination in March, 2007, you have been most exciting to watch. Your energy, intellect, and devotion have helped to bring liberty to the forefront of national debate. Your ability to organize, raise funds, and act for Dr. Paul should be used as a template for successful political action. You deserve hearty congratulations for what you have accomplished.

Despite your tremendous effort, though, Dr. Paul is not going to be the Republican nominee. And while this is disappointing, you have committed yourself to continuing the Ron Paul Revolution. You have devoted yourself to electing liberty-friendly candidates and infusing your ideals into public policy. Again, kudos to you.

It's an absurd message to my mind as well. There is no easy way out in this fight.. I remember a lot of Obama supporters extending the same offer to switch support to someone that has a chance. This isn't quite as false a hope as that was but it still represents the unwise path no matter the strategic or political benefit Wolf sees.

With friends like these...

"In spite of our support, though, you ignore us. You refuse to acknowledge that Libertarians share your beliefs. Don't pretend that the Libertarian Party does not exist. Don't pretend that you are the standard bearers for liberty. Don't pretend that you are the only ones beating the drum for the liberty movement. The Libertarian Party has been doing this for a long time."

I realize this open letter is from one county LP chairman and not representative of the entire LP, but is it a wonder that people find this attitude smug and rather unappealing? We were here first!! We have been doing this for longer than you!! Bla bla bla

The way i see it, the liberty movement will go on in and among the Republican party and without in 3rd parties such as the LP. There is no monopoly on freedom. I will vote for Mr Barr in the election because I am prevented from writing in Dr Paul. And i am glad the LP is there. But could do without the condescending tone.

We raised more awareness,

We raised more awareness, money, and gained more ground under the Republican banner, than Libertarians have ever done to the best of my knowledge.

We may be blacksheeps within the Republican party, but under the libertarian banner we'd fade into third party oblivion in the eyes of those who assume all third parties are unorganized and fringe. Frankly there are a lot of those people.

Like Nader before him, the only reason Barr is getting any press is because hes syphoning off support from one of the major candidates. Surely you don't think name recognition alone was responsible for his exposure.

According to my interactions with people in the Revolution, many will vote for Barr in the general election, but I think many of us also recognise the benefits we reap from just being associated with The Republican Party.

The FEC itself is bending the rules for this election, so if the status quo doesn't want our message out there, they will try and stop us regardless.

Republican Blacksheep puts us in a 30 foot hole, but Libertarian 3rd party status puts us in a 50 foot hole. We cant spare the elevation or the exposure.

Government has solved the age old dilemma of the alchemists. In order to turn lead into gold, just add blood.
