Type of Content: Video BEAVERTON - Police said today they arrested a man who used his cell phone to record a confrontation between a police officer and another man being arrested at a bowling alley. Ho Xent Vang, 27, of Aloha, was arrested Wednesday on an accusation of interception of communication, said Detective Pam Judge, spokeswoman for Beaverton Police. Judge said Vang was at Valley Lanes Bowling Center, 9300 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy., at about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday and saw police in the process of arresting a customer, Bryce King, 27. Judge said neither the officer nor King were aware that Vang was recording them. Oregon law allows audio material to be recorded only if one of the parties is aware the recording is taking place. Judge said Vang was recording video and audio using his cell phone camera. Only the audio recording violated Oregon law, she stressed. King was arrested on an accusation of harassment. Additional details were not available. Read »

Complete BS. The police are public servants. Everything they do on the job should be in the public eye. the sheeple of course (neo-cons) will go along with this and everything else. But REAL conservatives don't float around like pussies accepting each and every new transgression of our rights. As far as intercepting communications IMHO I could POSSIBLY see a point in the law if there were a conversation between 2 private citizens on one's own property where a conversation were intercepted using surveillance technology such as a shotgun microphone. But of course the laws were intended to prevent eavesdropping on phone conversations. Which opens up another can of worms.
