WASHINGTON - The number of Army suicides increased again last year, amid the most violent year yet in both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

An Army official said Thursday that 115 troops committed suicide in 2007, a nearly 13 percent increase over the previous year's 102. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because a full report on the deaths wasn't being released until later Thursday.

2005 - 6250 suicides. Official 2006/2007 numbers in doubt due to cover-up.
It is likely that they are higher now.

VA now reports 1000 veteran suicide attempts per MONTH.
VA chief Katz was caught in the cover-up when his emails were exposed.

I just spoke with the Associated Press headquarters in NYC about their article vs. CBS. I asked them to review this CBS report and have emailed them the link to this thread.

Suicide

I wonder, if soldiers believed in what they were doing, would they really kill themselves? It seems to me that suicide is a hopeless and shameful act...
