A new idea for popularity
Posted by johnandersonii on Tue, 07/22/2008 - 21:31 inI have kind of a strange idea, that comes from the era of watching Ron Paul events on the Justin.TV site.
You know how video sites like Break.com and YouTube have comments sections where the audience of the video can interact. Sure the audiences of Break.com and YouTube are generally horrid and obnoxious, but picture combining that sort of feedback with a broadcast.
Picture a simultaneous broadcast and web cast/live discussion in which the comments or live discussion of the webcast are tickered into the broadcast. Either with select comments scrolling along where other news networks put their 'Hot News' items, or even side scrolling down by the reporter.
Those who get their news primarily from the T.V. might be very intrigued to see what the world at large has to say about the topic being discussed. This idea could become extremely popular. Instead of a news network telling you what other people think about the topic, people will be able to see for themselves what others think about it even if they don't surf the internet for news.
It could even extend to exposing and critiquing the opinion pieces touted as real news under fair use. You re-broadcast specific segments of Fox or CNN stories and open them for real comments from real people.
Just an idea.
