You can have both at the same time.

If you want, you can have Linux and Windows on your PC or Mac at the same time. The easiest way to do this is with a program called Vmware.

This is good for people who want to try out Linux without formating and repartitioning their hard drive.

Thanks for the tip, I didn't

Thanks for the tip, I didn't know about that. I ended up repartitioning my laptop because Verizon wireless has written their software only for windows. As far as i know, no one in the Linux community has written anything that would run the verizon wireless external device. -- I guess you can't win them all. However my 802.11 wireless does work.

Note to the uninformed...

Note to the uninformed -- The Open source community IS ...Of the People, By the People, and For the people. I'm using linux on three desk tops (NOT WINDOWS) and urge others to join this not-so-technical revolution as well. And if you are stuck with windows for the moment - then try using open source programs such a Open Office (similar to MS office), The Gimp (powerful photo editing software), and others. Also, remember that most of the contributors to open source software are not paid - so please support their efforts.

Note: "Open Office" documents can be saved in windows formats!!! You are losing nothing and gaining everything -- independence and freedom.

To bad I missed the show. Go Ubuntu!! http://www.ubuntu.com/
