Democrat Congressional Leaders-- Complicit In the War Crimes and Coverup
Our Strangebedfellows partner Glenn Greenwald continues his heroic work today at www.Salon.com/opinion/Greenwald. In his piece "The Motivation For Blocking Investigations Into Bush Lawbreaking" Glenn points out in excruciating detail the complicity of the Democratic congressional leadership in the Bush war crimes and coverup. Coverup-- the true motivation and meaning of the Democratic leadership "compromise" and collapse on FISA reauthorization. As Glenn says: "As we witness not just Republicans, but also Democrats in Congress, acting repeatedly to immunize executive branch lawbreaking and to obstruct investigations, it's vital to keep that fact [Democrats themselves are compromised] in mind. With regard to illegal Bush programs of torture and eavesdropping, key Congressional Democrats were contemporaneously briefed on what the administration was doing (albeit, in fairness, often in unspecific ways). The fact that they did nothing to stop the illegality, and often explicitly approved of it, obviously incentivises them to block any investigations or judicial proceedings into those illegal programs."
Greenwald names names: Pelosi; Rockefeller; Harman. He calls them "compromised and complicit," then he asks these questions:
"If you were Jay Rockefeller or Nancy Pelosi, would you want there to be investigations and prosecutions of torture programs that, to one degree or another, you knew about? If you were Jane Harman, wouldn't you be extremely eager to put a stop to judicial proceedings that were likely to result in a finding that surveillance programs that you knew about, approved of, and helped to conceal were illegal and unconstitutional?"
Glenn Greenwald-- Strangebedfellow and American hero. Does his courageous attack against his own establishment party order remind us of anyone we know on the Republican side of the aisle?

Like Paul and Kucinich, Greenwald is indeed a hero. But why don't these courageous individuals learn from history?
Jefferson didn't join the British Parliament to advance the God given rights of his fellow Colonists. And "V" didn't play by Sutler's rules in order to make his Fawkian stand.
Those who have broken free of the Matrix, the Pauls and Kucinich's and Greenwalds of this world, should follow the lead of Cynthia McKinney, and proudly "declare their independence" from the corrupted two party system the world's latest "empire" firmly rests upon.
Just as the separate Colonies joined together to fight the common enemy of their day, Ron and Dennis and Cynthia and Jesse Ventura and Ralph Nader need to join. And by exposing the Democrats and Republicans as the colluding "crime families" they truly are, lead us in a sorely needed Renaissance.
