Lots of noise out there about education from pre-K all the way to post graduate musings. How about some discussion regarding the realities of what passes for "education" and what it should truly be? Our nation is, and has been for decades, breeding generations of semi-literate, docile, intellectually mal-formed individuals. Many of our fellow citizens have few, if any, competencies to bring to the fight when lifes inevitable challenges arise. To wit, half of election eligible citizens don't vote, much less get involved in the process. My guess is most are too apathetic or too stupid or some combination of the two. Both of these social maladies may be traced to state indoctrination via "The Education System".

What say you?

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."
-- Thomas Jefferson

Am I stuck?

The truth is I feel I am. I have been caught in the web due to circumstances I had to submit to. I feel like I have sold my soul to the company in return for what? I may not even get my retirement fund. Being aware of this does not help me to run from the fascist institution I make a living from. If I could just walk away and never look back- seems to only happen in the movies.

If it weren't for my participation in this system - I wouldn't have known the benefits of looking for solutions and coming across people such as yourself and the many others who participate on the BTM.

Thank you

hey girl...

Walking away and never looking back is not necessary. If ya walk away look back and be grateful:)

A pretty smart lady just told me the other day that one of the most beautiful things about being human is the ability to change! I think that includes being able to change carreers and adapt to new economies as well as changing our personal behaviors:)

New information gives us the ability for new choices!

....resuming to teach an elective which has more purpose for the student; it actually prepares them for positions in the health care industry and or gives them a head start for college.

AND, I have only 7 yrs left to claim retirement.

possibilities abound I know and I am always on the look out.

thank you Daimona for your encouragement :-)

Stuck? The Decision is Yours!

poulianna,

Thanks for the short post. Apparently not many care to engage in a discourse that may be perhaps one of the top three issues of our time. Again, while I empathize with your plight, all is not lost. Awareness is the first step toward resolution. I have made contact with many folks tied to the state indoctrination system, aka "Departments of Education" and the more astute among their number recognize the heinous imprisonment of being an "educator". Most capitulate to the mediocrity required by the oppressive state machine. Many find creative ways to teach over, under, around or through the obstacles in their path. Some turn their back on their calling and find other ways and means to survive. Very few find the courage to directly fight the system; there is no shame in not having the courage to fight, since the price to be paid is extraordinarily high for these individuals.

Your experiences in the system would be interesting to hear about. I have read some of your other posts and you sound as though your experiences have certainly caused you to think deeply about your situation. Bureaucracy of the state is the most nefarious, since it grows to subsume not only the wealth and properity of its people - but the people themselves. I guess I would suggest finding a few peers and younger associates, whom you trust, and determine your path forward. Fighting offers the most reward and the potential for the most loss. The decision is yours. Never submit!
