Just thinking about Palin and Pelosi
If I am thinking correctly, when the Vice President assumes the Presidency, the Speaker of the House moves up to the Vice Presidency, right?
So if this is the accurate chain and knowing McCain is fairly old, was a drinker in the early days, has been treated for cancer, and if you subscribe to the idea that the Dems and Repubs work together to maintain their power over the constituents of America, is it possible, for the conspiracy minded represented here at breakthematrix, that this whole election agenda is set up by the Republocrats for McCain to be elected, to have health problems, Palin to become the first female President and here is the main part, Pelosi moves up to the Vice Presidency. Holy run-on sentence Batman, right?
Just trying to see between the lines and I have not heard anybody think of this one, so breakthematrix members, chime in.....
and from Wikipedia....who stood against impeachment......and follow the money....and doesn't Palin also have 5 children like Pelosi.....
Blocking of impeachment proceedings against Bush
In the wake of George W. Bush's reelection in 2004, several leading House Democrats believed that Democrats should pursue impeachment proceedings against the president. They asserted that Bush had misled Congress about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and had violated the civil liberties of Americans by authorizing wiretaps without a warrant.
In May 2006, with an eye on the upcoming Congressional elections — which offered the possibility of Democrats taking back control of the House for the first time since 1994 — Pelosi told colleagues that, while the Democrats would conduct vigorous oversight of Bush administration policy, an impeachment investigation was "off the table." (A week earlier, she had told the Washington Post that, although Democrats would not set out to impeach the president, "you never know where" investigations might lead.)[13]
Since becoming Speaker of the House in January 2007, Pelosi has held firm against impeachment, notwithstanding strong support for that course of action among constituents in her home district. In early July 2007, antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan announced that unless Pelosi moved to impeach Bush by July 23, Sheehan would run against Pelosi as an independent candidate in the 2008 election.[14]
On July 10, 2008, Pelosi said of Dennis Kucinich's article of impeachment against President George W. Bush, introduced that day, "This is a Judiciary Committee matter, and I believe we will see some attention being paid to it by the Judiciary Committee. Not necessarily taking up the Articles of Impeachment because that would have to be approved on the floor, but to have some hearings on the subject. My expectation is that there will be some review of that in the Committee."[15] On July 31, 2008, she told Time, "You can't talk about impeachment unless you have the facts, and you can't have the facts unless you have cooperation from the Administration." [16]
Family
Pelosi has five children: Nancy Corinne, Christine, Jacqueline, Paul, and Alexandra, as well as seven grandchildren. Alexandra, a journalist, covered the Republican presidential campaigns in 2000 and made a film about the experience, Journeys with George. In 2007, her book "Campaign Boot Camp: Basic Training for Future Leaders" was published. [8]
Financial status
The Pelosi family has a net worth of nearly $19 million as of 2007, primarily from investments. In addition to their large portfolio of jointly owned San Francisco Bay Area real estate, the couple also owns a vineyard in St. Helena, California, valued at $5 million to $25 million. Pelosi's husband also owns stock, including $5 million in Apple Computer. Pelosi continues to be among the richest members of Congress.[9]

It is worthy to note that if the President and Vice President positions became vacant, then the Speaker of the House would, in fact, be the third in line to assume the office of the president, so at least we do have that buffer, should something happen to both the Pres and V.P. (god forbid).
That's covered by the Presidential Succession Act of 1947
http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/3/19.html
This is covered by the 25th amendment.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty-fifth_Amendment_to_the_United_States...
Section 2 states that when there is a vacancy in the office of vice president, which there would be in the situation discussed above, the president picks a replacement who then must be confirmed by BOTH houses in a majority vote.
To be fair, magicchord was pretty close :)
I should have stayed awake in civics class. :)
it may well have been better to be asleep. I dont remember being taught much in civics classes bout the constitution. Sure, in passing. But nowhere near as thoroughly as one would expect of the document that is the supreme law of the land. But then again, I went to public school. So not so surprising.
If the Vice President assumes the office of President due to the death or resignation of the President, the position of Vice President remains open until the new President appoints a replacement and this replacement is confirmed by the - um - Senate, I believe.
