The link above is a short video describing a man by the name of Nicola Tesla, whom I've only just recently heard of. To be honest, documentaries like this, that do not reference the material it presents, I'm very skeptical of. I have found no websites (except wikipedia, and that's a bias and worthless site) or books as of yet that contain some kind of information I could call solid.
I absolutely believe our government and surrounding corporations would have driven this guy into the ground for his amazing discoveries. However, before I can talk to others about him, I want to have my facts straight.
If anyone can provide reading/documentary material for this man, I would appreciate it. I know it would be difficult, because according to this short documentary, Tesla is still classified since the days of JE Hoover.

I have many more but I think you'll get a good bunch of info from several of the posts made here already.
I find it interesting that Tesla was working on what he called a "death ray" back right before his death and right after he died those men in black suits broke in and took everything from his lab.....
in the name of "National Security" of course !
I wish I could find the article that was published not too long ago that talked about the US Military was going to test out a new weapon in Iraq that shot an electrical beam onto the skin and made the target EXTREMELY uncomfortable (I bet ) ! Then I thought the said it wasn't going to be used because it was inhumane......yeah like that would stop them ! I bet its as close to what Tesla was designing as they have come so far.
I also have done alot of research into Tesla while working on a Hydrogen project .
There's a good book about Tesla called "A man out of time".
Also of course Tesla the '80s band was presumably named after him (just to show his cult popularity) And there's a couple of movies which came out recently.

I was first exposed to Tesla as a teenager. In a certain computer game the Tesla Coil is a weapon. Back then I didn't know or care much about Tesla, but just about two months ago I saw a documentary about Tesla on the History Channel, and even their version of the story was awesome enough for me to get excited about him.
If you put a noose around the neck of a neo con and put him up on a stool, he'll kick the stool out from under himself because "well for better or for worse I'm already here."
Which game are you talking about? I've seen Tesla Coil named as a weapon too.
Command and Conquer: Red Alert, and the sequels.
Thats practically how learned to use a computer in the first place.

I program mods for some games, and I saw someone use Tesla Coil on a mod for Warcraft 3. That is the ONLY place, in all of my life, that I've ever heard the name. This really proves the saying that "History is written by those who have hanged heroes."

they probably ripped the idea from C&C, its the same kinda game, military strategy.

Tesla was amazing. Honestly, I cannot remember where I read/heard/saw pics about things he had done (or was doing), sorry. This was a few years back for me (highschool), but I still believe the stuff since I've thus far not been given reason to believe otherwise.
It's too bad that he was so horrible with money and the like--he would have been one of the richest men in the world if he had known how to manage it. Thing is, I don't think money mattered to the man; that gives me more respect for him. It's too bad he burned down his lab (on accident)....
All the stuff in the video I have heard elsewhere too (other documentaries, for example). Fascinating.
There have been countless speculations as to what Tesla's most secret discoveries were. At the time of his death, there were in all, the approximate equivalent of a railroad boxcar load of Tesla materials confiscated by the FBI, from around four different storage locations and Tesla's hotel storage and hotel room and safe. Of this, a total of only about 150,000 documents were released to Tesla's Yugoslavian relatives, now held by the Tesla Institute in Belgrade. These documents and old models, primarily of a historical nature, comprise most of the published Tesla materials of the institute. The huge volume of the rest of the documents and models was retained by the Custodian of Alien Properties in an unclassified state, because the government's "experts" had declared that none of it was worth classifying, from 1943 until 1945, when, following the arrival of the Nazi scientists and the secret war files of Nazi Germany, acquired under Operation Paperclip, the spooks from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base hurried up to the warehouses of the Custodian of Alien Properties, and took possession of all the documents and other materials, and every bit of them have been classified at the highest level ever since, the government having declassified NONE of them.
"The remainder of Tesla's papers are still classified---literally tons of notes, documents, drawings, and plans. The government distributed false rumors that "Tesla never kept notes", which was a blatant lie. The notes on his Colorado Springs experiments alone (1899-1900) were enough for a large-format book of 433 pages. Considering the fact that Tesla continued to do some mysterious research at the Colorado Springs laboratory for a number of years---from which we have no notes---there is ample cause for suspicion. It is known from Tesla's own word's that these additional experiments at Colorado Springs were much more far-reaching.
In 1979, when I tried to gain access to Tesla papers held at the J. Robert Oppenheimer Study Center, at LANL ("Los Alamos National Lab), the government admitted possession, but denied access for lack of the appropriate "badge" (security clearance). Tesla's papers are now held at least in part, in Los Alamos, New Mexico. On that same day, I found the hydrogen bomb plans on the public access shelves, yet was denied access to Tesla's papers. What could be more sensitive than the hydrogen bomb, which was invented by Tesla prior to 1943?" - Wm. R. Lyne - http://members.tripod.com/~lyne4lyne/tesla.htm
When Tesla used to eat out, he would carry hankies with him, and religiously wipe all silverware before eating. I imagine he also did not shake hands often. He understood microbial life well. He understood math and numbers, and really the quantum field even more.
I doubt he was bad with finances, though did not matter to him, aside from keeping his research going. Its highly suspicious in light of the government coverup of his work, as well as Edison hating him for his knowledge and 'financial savy'; the way he got funded after he left being Edison's apprentice, not to mention that Edison knew what Tesla was capable of as an scientist.
Edison knew that Tesla would win out. Isnt interesting that history has covered Tesla up, most people dont even know today who is truly responsible for the light above our heads, or the computers that we use.
Did Edison stand to gain if Tesla was not around any longer?
Did the government stand to gain in having his work to themselves?
Applying Acums razor to this paints a sinister end to a VERY gifted Genius, and no one to be the wiser.
I actually think I am going to have a show on Tesla this coming Monday. :)

Thank you! That'd be great.

The government stole and suppressed his information. He did not need papers, or work books, for he could conceptualize every piece of moving part in his head. In his Colorado laboratory there was a fire, and it destroyed most of what writings and drawings he had, which where few.

Tesla wanted to give the entire planet free energy, but knew that his inventions would be used by the governments and corporations for evil gains. So, he gave each super power at the time a piece of the puzzle. However he failed to realize that the power behind the facade of 'nationalism' is a world government, and soon all his keys where put together and used, which is where most of the modern world comes from today, technologically that is.
Im a big fan of Tesla, here is my little tribute to him: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pwkA9IH5tlE
Thanks for all that information. I'm gonna' be spending a lot of time today on Tesla, and then joining in on Lauren's show, hoping she'll be covering him as well.
