While I'm sure this will be met with a torrent of anger, Genesis was actually "divinely inspired" from the Enuma Elish - the creation epic of the Summerians. While the Enuma Elish personified a bit more it is basically the same tome. During the development of Christianity, the work was rewritten into a more "modern" form of literature lacking some of the personification and the reason for the creation of humans. The god of the material - Shaitan - was vilified, as were women, who were revered by the Sumerians. Vilification of another religion's gods and symbols of good is one transformation that is usual in religion formation. When a pagan speaks of Lucifer or Satan (or Shaitan) they are usually speaking of the original idea of Satan as the overseer of the material realms and not of the evil beast of Christianity. The fright this instills in the Christians was purposefully indoctrinated in them as a means to keep them adherent to the principles of the faith and contemptuous of other faiths - that's how the clergy keep their rule over their "flocks".

The fact that the UN seats itself in materialism doesn't surprise me considering the way they have sunk themselves into the global corporate/financial systems. They may see themselves as Satan - but it isn't the Christian version of Satanism that they see themselves as - but rather the Summerian version, where trade first lead to the rise of urban culture.

Do not take this explanation to mean that I agree with the UN or like the fact they are self-appointed dictators. They are no more frightening to me, however, than people who are not secure enough in their own beliefs to let others live according to their own. You can force actions - but you can't force belief. there is nothing evil or sinister about the ways of the Pre Christian world. A lot of this stuff is simple fear mongering by preachers and pastors threatened by the Gods their forefathers labeled demons and made illegal. Almost every Christian demon, was at one time, for one people, a God, just as holy and venerable as the Christian God. Sure the worship practices were barbaric, to this day religious practices are centuries old, and even though they make no sense, and can indeed be harmful, people still practice them. We see how ignorant people can be even in this day and age with most knowledge just a google search away, imagine how pathetic our species was 2000 years ago when even the written word was scarce.
