Both my hubby and I will be writing in Ron Paul. We are sick of having the lesser of two evils at election time. We are weary of hearing "well, if I vote for so and so, there is no chance of him winning so I am just throwing my vote away"........if all those people who make that ludicrous statement actually voted their principles, we might get a decent person in the White House. I will NOT vote for Obama or McCain. Neither of them are worth the office and McCain is no conservative and no real Republican. Both parties are now the same, in my mind. So yes, we will write in Ron Paul!
I will NOT be voting for McCain or Obama!
In my state, we don't have write-in options, & if I did write Ron Paul on the ballot, it will become void (the whole ballot, including the local & state, & there's a chance of getting some good change at the state level this year). We also don't have the Libertarian & Constitution Party choice (strictly a Republican & Democrat ballot. So not fair!)
I am writing in "Ron Paul for President", too. I don't care if "they" discard my vote. A discard is better than voting for either candidate who is hand-picked by the establishment. As Jesse Ventura said, a vote for him is "none of the above". I believe a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for "none of the above," also. I was hoping that Obama wouldn't kiss the a-s of the lobbies for Israel, but he has. I was hoping that he had a little integrity, but he doesn't. McCain...??? The Vietnam Veterans have poopooed him. He is obviously a light weight, except if one wants to declare war against persons in the Middle-East who own the oil. YUK. I can't help it; I am lost in understanding this stupid world.
The lesser of two evils is still evil.
What is a wasted vote? If I vote for anyone on the 2008 ticket then I wouldn't be voting for my beliefs. It doesn't matter who gets voted in, they (McCain / Obama) will both run business as usual. I don't want to give them or any another party candidate my vote of approval when I don't approve. If the millions of apathetic voters wrote in Ron Paul, he might not win, but it will send a clear message to parties that there is a new game in town and they had better start playing differently. We do have the power of numbers if we are consistent and support specific activities and candidates.

In my state, Michigan, a write-in candidate must file a declaration of his intent to run with the Secretary of State along with his VP choice and a list of delegates. If he doesn't do that then the write-in vote will not be counted. So your protest will not be counted. And as far as I know Ron Paul is not planning to run a write-in campaign.
Glenn Beck said it best. "A vote for Mccain, is a vote for Mccain, a vote for Obama is a vote for Obama, and a vote for Bob Barr is a vote for Bob Barr..." Now, I am not voting for Barr I am writing in Dr. Paul. But I agree 100% with Beck. We have to get this "lesser of two evils" out of our heads. When will the masses realize that? No seriously... It's not Rhetorical. I want to know. VOTE RON PAUL!!!!
Rules/Laws in each state of our Union differ and change from time to time for how to properly write in a candidate for office.
In 2004, Pennsylvania for example required voters to not only write in their candidate of choice if they were not the party ticket but to also write in each and every delegate for their vote to weigh the same as a party vote (that is 70 delegates).
We need to know this sort of information for every state for November 2008 elections and rules. We also need to know the names of who to write in and how to properly record their names so there is no digital version of a hanging chad.
We also need to ensure that the electronic ballots and other ballots being used will permit us to properly cast a non-party vote or write-in candidate.
Feel free to e-mail me about this.

I still think this should be one of the projects that the "Ron Paul People" adopt. A socialist in jail set the record with about 1 million votes. Ron got 1 million just in the Republican primaries - it should be a cinch. The only obstacle is that I think some states have eliminated the write-in vote unless the candidate registers because of all the Mickey Mouse votes in the past.

As far as I am concerned if I waste my time voting I might as well waste it writing in Ron Paul.
If all Ron's supporters write him in it would probably be the biggest write in of all time.
Lets push it.

What if RP is the nominee? It could happen. McCain is far from invulnerable.

Dear Dr Paul,
We the people, your faithful followers, are winning national delegate spots all across the country for you. You have a lot more supporters than you "envisioned" a year ago, more than I think you realize now.
There are a ton of UNBOUND Delegates for McCain that can be swayed your way if they were to see you and he go at it head to head in a televised debate.
Our suggestion is that, along with running ads here and there around the country. Challenge John McCain to a nation wide debate and offer to donate $1,000,000 to the charity of his choice. (An offer he can't refuse.)
Obama and Clinton have had many debates but you and the Senator haven't had one.
We know that you will win as always and the unbound delegates will swing your way! This is important and will most assuredly get you a speaking spot at the national convention!
Please consider making the announcement, like you did with Rudy's Reading list!
Thank you for your consideration.

What a GREAT idea! Instead of putting the pressure of funding the $1,000,000 debate price tag on the Ron Paul campaign; how about we do what we as Ron Paul supporters have done thus far and do it ourselves!!!
I can see a "Ron Paul vs. John McCain Debate Money Bomb"
I honestly think that the Ron Paul supporters are doing everything they can to give Ron Paul the exposure that he deserves, but I also think that we are running out of ideas, we are getting tired of being ignored by the mainstream media... Not to say that we are giving up or are defeated, as Ron Paul has said,
"Freedom is popular!"
I think its time to let our "Heavyweight Fighter" (Ron Paul) do what he does best and debate McCain one on one!
So I don't know who is responsible for the prior money bombs but this would be a GREAT way to get Ron Paul on the stage!!!
Ron Paul or Trevor Lyman could hold a press conference and announce the idea and show Ron Paul accepting the offer and then see if McCain steps up or backs down...
Lets run with this I think this could be HUGE
If we want to send a message that we are delusional and easily beaten, then we should write in someone's name on a ballot. Write-ins are not counted!
I'm voting Libertarian or not at all. If Barr gets the LP nod, I'll just stay home in 2008, rather than demean the idea of libertarianism.

I have seen a write-in candidate almost be successful in winning an election. For the position of Sheriff in my county, one person ran as a write-in as he had come back from the war in Afghanistan and his time in the service was over. He ran a great write-in campaign. He lost by 200 votes (out of about 8000).
Even though he did lose, if we want to look united, we need to show a strong presence at the polls and that we truly believe in this man. By doing that, we're not wasting our vote, we're making a stance.
Not in a presidential campaign have you seen it. Write-in was a good posture to have a few months ago. But it is common knowledge that a true write in campaign will fail due to each states laws regarding write-ins. In some states if you write-in, your vote will not be counted.
Stay the course until the convention then rally behind the prevailing planB after the single biggest exodus of a political party since ever. Take down the 2 party system and make 3rd party mainstream push hard for this from the convention conclusion until November.
Still hoping for a better plan B than the ones floating around right now. Whosoever shall take up this new charge will have to be able to stand on their own merit and not be overshadowed by "rockstar" personalities of the opposition. What this equates to for me anyway is someone with some infamy and charisma. As shallow as it sounds, someone with some celebrity status.
I'm very sorry but I'm not convinced B.Barr or W.A.R. are either of these things and a couple of their positions on various subjects doesn't sit well with me. If I am to stick with principle then Chuck Baldwin is my would be second pick however he is neither of these things as well. The only potential candidate with celebrity status is Jessie Ventura, who is truly in no mans land being a total independent with absolutely no party structure behind him.
Of this I am certain. This revolution will not support the status quo. Thus a planB will come to fruition in due time. The best thing we can all do until that time is to continue to educate the public and wake the masses.
I am writing in Ron Paul. On a nationwide average, 8-10% for write-in would make the history books.
Even if Dr Paul bows out, we should still personally continue his election. It IS POSSIBLE for a write-in to win the election.
If people Republican, Democrat, or Independent feel like their voting between the worst of two evils, and seen a lot of signs to "write-in" Ron Paul, its likely they make take the extra time to do so.
It doesn't have to end at the Republican National Convention. While Ron Paul may stop actively campaigning, it does not mean we have to stop actively campaigning as well!
We have been the ones to be noticed for being different, let us be the one's to take it to the next level, and CONTINUE to show we are strong.
I'm not sure why anybody would vote Libertarian over Ron Paul.
I'm writing him in, though I may be ignorant, I thought he was going to be printed on the ballot in my state, but I'm ignorant as to the fact.
Let's see, McCain... who will listen to Rove and many other Neocons... hell no.
Hillary. Definately never.
Obama....NO.
Ron Paul... yes...
Great new website promoting a write in campaign for Ron Paul, not all states allow write ins. This website has information for each state and directions on how to write in a vote on an electronic voting machine.
http://www.thepeoplehavespoken.org/
I'm writing him in all CAPS so I know I am shouting it!! :o)
My thought on voting Libertarian is that if they get a large enough percentage, then they will be eligible for matching funds for the next election.
NOT voting for Ron Paul is a wasted vote. It's Ron Paul vs. the anti-American Globalists (McCain, Obama, Clinton). A vote for one of those three is a vote against America. If Ron Paul is not on the ballot, I'm writing in his name. Actually, I'll vote with an absentee ballot and mail it in so that I can't be told on election day that they ran out of paper ballots.
I really don't care if others tell me that I'am wasting my vote, I will be writing in Ron Paul on my ballot come Nov.. It's pretty sad to see all the sheep being led around by their blind stupidity. It really scares me that not very many people believe the things I speak to them about in todays political world. They just seem to be content to just complain alittle and go right on thinking Obama or Hillary or McCann will come to the countrys rescue.
writing in Dr. Paul for sure.
I will write in Ron Paul! If you vote for the lesser of the two evils..... aren't you still voting for evil?
I will either write him in, or vote for whoever he endorses. Personally, if he is going to endorse anyone, I hope it is Chuck Baldwin.
I will either write him in or vote for any candidate he personally endorses. I will NOT vote for Rodham-Clinton, Obama, or McCain. I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils as well. John Quincy Adams said it best: "Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost."
Christine, I think you are mistaken regarding the national election. The delegates are only able to choose the parties candidate. In the general election, your vote still counts. The electoral college system is in place at that point. If Ron Paul got enough write in votes to win the electoral votes of enough states he could still become president. You are correct that for Ron Paul to become the Republican Party Candidate, he will need the majority of the Republican delegates. For example, in the state of Maine this past weekend he received 1 delegate and John McCain received 17. The delegates do not choose the President, just the parties nominee.
I hate to keep bringing this up on this site all over the place, but I keep reading people's comments about voting for Ron Paul. I think that I will absolutely write his name in at the National Convention if I am elected from my state delegate position. However, all the people who are not state delegates at this point don't have a say in the Presidential election anyway. I know I didn't know that until this year. I feel I have been lied to all along with everybody telling the public that your vote counts and if you vote you can make a difference like Oprah always goes on about. However, the only difference the general public can make is on local issues. The big issues like Presidency are strictly up to the national delegates and superdelegates. You can find this info on wikipedia.com if you look up info on delegates.
So I hope this helps everybody. The people's vote does not elect the President. Period. Only National Delegates and Superdelegates elect the President. So if you are not already a state delegate or a county delegate heading to your County Convention for election into the State convention, you will not be able to help the election in any other way than contributing to the Ron Paul movement-either financially or showing support in marches, rallies, etc.. I know that the Ron Paul delegates elected to the NAtional Convention are going to need a massive donation fund set up since going to the national convention costs an average of $4-5,000 per person. Most Ron Paul delegates I know don't have that kind of money either, so we are working at setting up fundraisers, donation funds etc, so the Ron Paul people can be sure to go regardless of money requirements. So donating to your state's national delegate that is voting for Ron Paul at the National Convention is the best way to help if you are not going yourself.
The people's vote for the President is no more than a straw poll... a nationwide opinion. The people's choice rarely matches the delegates choice,(until this election!! :() ) yet it is the delegate's choice that elects the President.
We the people also do not elect our congressmen, or our US senators. The people are only responsible for electing local officials, state senators, legislators, Governors, etc. Congressmen and US Senate are elected from a closed vote of their peers from the state senate and legislature, and other state officials. So the upper levels of govt are basically off limits to the average citizen. Can you believe that??
So next time somebody tells you that you are wasting your vote if you write in Ron Paul...hey if you're not a national delegate or a super delegate, your vote doesn't matter in a way that makes a difference anyway. Sorry to tell you that bad news.
I know I am still mad about that. I only found that out this year!! So I am mad to know, and glad I found out so I could go to the caucuses and get into a state delegate spot, pushing for the election into the national delegate position. Of course for Ron Paul.
I am a seated delegate in our Wyoming Convention at the end of this month... I know there are mre than a few like me who WILL BE VOTING FOR RON PAUL...
I will try to go to MN for Nationals... we will see.
Come November I will write him in if his name isn't already there.
