Did I miss a memo? Looks like a couple hundred new members in the last half hour. That's too many names to remember. Hello to all.

A day that was crafted

A day that was crafted purely for walking--sauntering, as Thoreau described it~

I prefer to either amble or mosey. Sometimes I just stroll or even swagger. I've also been known to strut and/or stumble, but I hardly ever saunter and I never, ever sashay. That would just be...Oh yeah, we were talking about the IPO...Oh, no we weren't. We were talking about the sudden increase in membership...anyway...I'm just glad we have a rallying point that will transcend the '08 election cycle and beyond.

Swarelis

I'm not bitter, and I've never met the "average Joe". I've met a couuple Joe's but none of them were especially average.

I'm not looking for a big payout or a fast turnaround --

Anyhow, what I'm contributing is what gives value to the site -- content, comments, membership etc.

without that it's an empty URL

I also don't have a lot of investment dough sitting around so I likely won't be involved too heavily in an IPO

Not bitter at all, I like the site and the forum it provides for people to bite off other's comments

Today is (not) the greatest day I've ever known--

Today is (not) the greatest day I've ever known--

But it is a pretty fantastic sort of day, meteorologically speaking.
the air is warm and cool at the same time; crisp and comfortable.
there is a breeze in the stillness, and the sun's rays feel soft.
It's a day that would be sinful to waste indoors.
A day that was crafted purely for walking--sauntering, as Thoreau described it~
a day in which everything feels possible.

Welcome all !!!!!

Hey, I had the same

Hey,

I had the same thoughts today!

YO

Our time is NOW.

Commander_Yo Posted by Commander_Yo on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 14:54
well whatever

swarelis, I'm thinking that I am going to have to get used to you
and to be fair sometimes I appreciate your comments more than other times
and didn't mean to stoop or anything like that
anyhow,

I hope the BTM owners make billions and run for office or install jacuzzis or whatever

Perhaps "revulsion" is too strong a word

My slight misgivings come from the understanding that this site is basically a forum -- and by that I mean an empty space -- waiting to be filled with content, ideas, conversation, etc.

I acknowledge and respect the architects of this forum but now that they've built it they're job is to sit back and watch it grow and make contributions like everyone else

When I first came here I was excited at the prospect of being somehow financially invested at the ground level -- then everytime I posted, commented, invited someone --- I'd be helping my investment grow

Now when I post, etc. I am helping someone else's investment grow until it gets to the point where it can be valued at (several million I think before an IPO is even considered --- kind of a guess) at which point I'll be able to buy into it along with everyone else who finds out about this site over the next couple years

Just not as special as being an early investor

Also, I think in the first day or two when points were given for postings -- the idea of being invested was being floated --- obviously this system is open to terrible abuse and by the end of the week "rea00001" would probably amass more points than anyone and corner the market

Also, I think the investment side of the site was floated in some of the early mass emails

Anyhow, after Ron Paul, the owners of BTM will be some of the first to profit on a mega scale from the "Revolution" . I'm just bummed that I'm not more directly involved.

IN all fairness the market will decide if they deserve it -- and I believe it will decide in their favor

POsitive Aspects of BTM:

I'm no longer talking back to the car radio -- Instead I post

I'm no longer trying to drag my patient wife into long winded conversations (Instead I post)

we differ

sounds like you feel like you were somehow cheated out of something you feel you were entitled to. i recall that it was made very clear in at least one of the mass emails when they were about to launch the company, that you shouldn't be counting on some major fast payout. so as far as immediate profit incentive, it's just not there.
investing in something like this is a huge risk. this isn't a starbucks where you know it'll take off. i don't understand why you're so focused on having some special privilege because you were here first. think about what it actually is that you are 'contributing' here. not much really. if anything you're using this venue and you're most likely grateful to have it. this is a direct followup to the Ron Paul fundraising efforts, the next step. how awesome is that? the whole thing could have just died but it morphed into something that may become much bigger.
you're one of a few thousands of people but i sense that you're bitter because you'd like a bigger slice than the average joe. keep in mind it's not like they'll be giving anything away. when time comes i'm sure you'll be free to risk as much of your money as you like. i for one am glad they're delaying things as i was going to throw some of my hard earned cash into this. so it's very comforting to know that they decided to grow it to have a stable base before they ask you to take risks with your money.

By the way Swarelis you still haven't

offered one piece of original content --- you wait for other people to speak then you copy their words and add a little comment to it
that is a parasitic approach

AdamAdamR Posted by AdamAdamR on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 03:26
like i said in last response to your request

patience you should have. patience is waiting more than two days. i like to think things through before i make a statement or two.

> you wait for other people to speak then you copy their words and add a little comment to it
yes.
that's my style.
i like to kick them when they're down. :D

guy, i disagree with people sometimes because i think i can offer a better view. i hope others take the same approach to me. if you can offer criticism that is sound then believe you me i will adopt your point of view. but instead of doing that you stoop to calling my approach 'parasitic'.

I would repeat myself Swarelis but

it's already in writing

AdamAdamR Posted by AdamAdamR on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 03:24
clarification needed

are you saying you feel a slight revulsion when you think about people making a profit off of this media startup? that's the way i understood it. i don't want to dish out any comments against this view until i'm sure that that's what you meant. so until then: say whaaaaaaaat?

awesomo5000 Posted by awesomo5000 on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 03:30
Sweeeeet

Welcome all!

Ken Posted by Ken on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 03:16
Well said, Ryan

And I agree with you --- at the same time -- there's a slight revulsion when I think about other people getting rich off it --- But hey, I can always make my own site if I want to.... and I have a lot of respect for BTM for putting this together in the first place

AdamAdamR Posted by AdamAdamR on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 03:14
revulsion?

All I care about is making

All I care about is making this country a stronger better place... IPO or not I just want to make this site work... it's just another chance to do my part.
