Only Root can unify our nation's potential libertarian vote...

He appeals to libertarians and fellow-traveling Americans of all kinds. He wants to get out of Iraq, not because we have no right to self defense, but because we should not be wasting American lives and dollars trying to gift the world with freedom they haven't learned to want.

He's also smart enough to frame the issue in terms of positives, (which is a winning strategy for getting what he wants).

If we want to spread a love of liberty to the world, we need to trade with the world, not promote freedom at the point of a bayonet. Although we might ultimately be thanked for yanking the Middle East out of the mud, the loss to our country to get to that point would be catastrophic. And of course, we open ourselves up to domestic terror that way, both from our own gun-grabbing FEMA and ATF, as well as the anti-freedom terrorist organizations known as the IRS, DEA, and al-qaeda.

I clicked on the link and read the entire article. I agree that Root’s stance should resound more favorably with a lot of Americans. He is hawkish enough to attract the “no guts no glory” crowd. Of course I was pleased with his non-interventionist ideas. I think he would do well.

Speaking only for myself; I was turned off by his Randian leanings. Of course his statement “Greed is Good” hit me in a very sensitive place, but I’ve blathered on enough about that for the remainder of my lifetime on this site. I was also not attracted to the fact that he clings to the dangerous dogma of “Israel Good – Muslims Bad”. His quotation of the meeting between Jefferson, Adams & Abdrahaman was insufficient to stoke the fires of fear within me of current day Muslims. Has anyone seen 300? Western civilization has been fighting factions of radical Muslims for a very long time. I imagine radical Muslims will always be a threat to some degree for a very long time. Personally, I’m far more concerned with what dangers may befall our nation due to it’s blind obedience to Israeli desires. That’s what really scares the hell out of me.

After reading this it is clear to me that this man Root could definitely be elected, if he got his message across to the masses. I also would rather have him as president than Bush II, or any of the current msm favored candidates. I think he is more “electable” due to his more hawkish stance compared to Ron Paul. Personally I trust Ron Paul to steer this country in a direction that would be safer than Root. I think Root could be more easily manipulated by Israel.

I would rather write in RP. Mr. Root would be my strong #2. How about a Paul/Root ticket? That would be AWESOME!
