This challenge to BTM members is to draft ideas of - WHAT IS THE US MATRIX?
Follow on challenges will enumerate ideas for the HOW, and then WHO/WHY. For this exercise, just think (mostly) about the WHAT portion.

Here is a set of starting ideas that is based on the Matrix theme -

The US Matrix is a construct ultimately designed to control us
It is a mass media system – deliberately controlled
It is a monetary system – purposefully hijacked
It is a political system – continually undermined
It is a social system – incremental dependency
US MEDIA MATRIX
- It is a concealed monopoly of groupthink and enforces pervasive conformity
- It is owned and controlled by a very small group
- News and information is “shaped” rather than just being presented
- Nonconformists are attacked or ignored
- It is now used mostly as entertainment rather than as an instrument of information
- It is a diabolical set of ideas that is continually pushed to saturate our mind from many different media venues
- Media campaigns are used to push us into wars
- It is a never-ending series of diversions which are programs designed to keep our minds preoccupied and away from critical thinking
- Misinformation is presented with smug confidence
- It has forbidden topics (CFR, US Fed scam, 9/11, NAU, Bilderberg, etc) which are rarely covered in a candid manner
- Fear and crisis are exploited
- Preference is given to politicians and others who subscribe to the media agenda
- Many of the media agenda items are unconstitutional (anti-2nd amendment, pro-illegal wars, anti-sovereignty, etc)
US MONETARY MATRIX
- It is designed to enslave us and our children in a repeating cycle of debt
- It is controlled by unelected private bankers who remain anonymous
- It is a pyramid scheme based upon a closed system of compounding interest on borrowed money at the government level
- It has a logic bomb – the payment of interest (on the national debt) will eventually exceed the money collected
- It uses an involuntary un-apportioned personal tax (income tax)
- The US currency is not a commodity (like gold), but a fiat currency based on debt promises (since 1971), which historically will always collapse
- The peoples savings are constantly devalued through printing of new debt money (labeled as “inflation”)
- Important indicators are falsely reported or hidden (CPI, GDP, M3, Employment)
- Prosperity in these conditions is very difficult – most earned money goes to pay for: insurance, taxes, and interest, or, is devalued over time by inflation
- The auditing of US Reserves (i.e. Ft Knox) is not reported to the people
- It is an unconstitutional monetary system in many areas (fiat currency, central bank, congressional control, un-apportioned taxes)
US POLITICAL MATRIX
- It only offers 2 presidential candidates with the same core goals
- Overseas empires are maintained for no apparent reason
- It is being slowly replaced by corporate ownership
- Words are presented as “evidence of intent”, rather than records of past actions
- The actions of elected officials are determined by the highest bidder rather than the desires of the constituency (people)
- Orwellian DoubleSpeak is now the norm (e.g. PATRIOT act)
- Transparency is replaced by secrecy
- Liberties are suspended “for your safety”
- It presents us with “show/sham” organizations which lobbyists can buy (e.g. FDA, Commerce Department)
- Fear and crisis are exploited for war, profits and control
- National dependency grids (foreign oil, foreign capital for debt, etc) are never solved
- Fundamental change is rare except when it benefits the elite
- Large private interests with political clout, are bailed out with taxpayer money if they fail
- It presents the people only with false alternatives rather than opposing choices
- The constitution is paid homage for elections, then ignored or desecrated
- It is beset with a logic bomb – the government keeps getting bigger and will eventually collapse because workers will not be able to support the cost (taxes/debt – is this happening now?)
- Constitutional power separations or limitations are ignored (Declaring war, judicial legislations, executive directives, warrant-less searches, etc.)
US SOCIAL MATRIX
- The family unit is marginalized – the nanny state is promoted
- Religious moral values are attacked
- Excessive hourly work schedules are now the norm
- Authoritarian rule is being slowly implemented
- A large percent (compared to other western countries) of the US population now resides in corporate owned jails
- Fear and crisis are exploited to keep us in a constant “warfare and security” mode (“war is peace” – George Orwell)
- Freedoms are being eliminated
- The communistic hospitals model (you pay for those that can’t) and insurance costs and drug costs are artificially raising medical bills
- Individual accountability is replaced by “fault transfer”
- Old government dependency grids (electricity, water, sewage, garbage, roads, etc) are rapidly expanding to include socialized drug and medical programs
- The government run retirement dependency grid (called social security/medicare/medicade/etc) has a built-in logic bomb – funding sources are rapidly diminish while costs are rising

There is currently no "Flag" to show miscategorized comments (ones not related to the main article), or to flag often repeated off topic "sales pitches" so I am guessing that the situation will continue.

Matrix refers to the obfuscated mechanisms of our media, money, political, and social systems.
So… I started with the WHAT question. I listed some ideas for each Matrix category (media/money/politics/social) with the thought that group would look at the line items and suggest any needed changes or show approval.
That didn’t happen!
With many hundreds of views, and comments that were monopolized by another agenda, and only 3 up arrows… I believe that the group has made a statement.
In retrospect, I think that decoding/mapping out the entire US matrix in one forum post may just be too much. Perhaps I should have started with a much smaller scope by just listing only the short MEDIA MATRIX section (which is most relevant to BTM).

I was inspired by reading the article by Rick Williams on the home page of BTM. His explanation of “What is Break-The-Matrix” lead me to the questions at the beginning of this topic. What are we trying to break? How is the system maintained? What groups are for/against the system, and what is their motivation (greed, political change, etc)?
These are complex systems that can not be completely figured out by any one person. But well informed forums (like BTM) could leverage the knowledge of its many members to come up with good answers.
The idea was that Decoding/mapping the matrix systems would help the primary BTM employees view the problems more clearly. The HOW part of the exercise could be extremely helpful to the success of BTM because it would show them methods (and countermeasures) to unmask the matrix.
I agree with those commenters who point out that our adversaries are not acting in secret. It's visible for all who care to look. Our adversaries are so puffed up with their own hubris that they think they can get away with their plundering right in front of our eyes. But here's the good news-- their debt money system is falling apart. They won't be around much longer. Every reason for optimism. R
It may well be that a top secret, massive, globalist, New World Order conspiracy being perpetrated by an elitist few of the wealthiest people in the world is the product of paranoid delusions, but that's only because the delusion is that it is a secret. There is nothing secret about it. It's proponents have been, openly and publicaly admitting, practically screaming in our face, their plans to rule the planet.
In his Memoirs, published by Random House in 2002, On page 405 of the paperback edition, David Rockefeller says this:
"For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents such as my encounter with Castro to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it."
And, further, David Rockefeller,who is also the founder of the Trilateral Commission, in an address to a meeting of The Trilateral Commission, in June, 1991 had this to say:
"We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the work is now much more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries."
These are not the paranoid imaginings of deluded conspiracy theory crackpots.
It takes a patently insane degree of naïveté to ignore what these people are, straight out, telling us. I could cite pages and pages of documented quotes and connections. The absurdity of it all lies not with those who are regularly denigrated for sounding the warning, but with those who are doing the denigrating. There can only be two explanations for such smug, besmirching behavior; first, woeful ignorence on the part of those who are infected by a septic groupthink virus or, second, willful complicity and I reject the notion of willful complicity on the part of your average citizen.
Although I've come to expect a distinguished lack of even a cursory understanding of the underlying facts behind the lexicology that is routinely designated and dished up as vilifications, I have concluded that it isn't that they have taken the time to research matters for themselves and found the evidence lacking. The fact that history is best viewed as an interconnected series of intentional causes introduced to produce intentional effects has long ago moved beyond the realm of theory and into the realm of undisputed, corroborated and well documented fact.
I find it far more likely that they are otherwise ineffectual people who are enamored by the apparent effectiveness of the delusive rhetorical frippery used by the pundits they percieve to be the champions of their particular social aspirations and affiliations. They are deluded in their belief that just adopting the pundit's pretentiously snarky attitude and merely regurgitating the same tired old ostentatious bagatelle serves to make themselves appear more knowledgeable on the subject than they actually are! They have, most likely, only heard terms like "Conspiracy Theorists", "Birchers" and "Truthers" being used as some sort of derogatory epithets by their favorite talking heads and thought it was cool or clever while they, themselves, havent made the slightest effort to educate themselves on the real underlying specifics and foundations of those terms. They just, simple mindedly, accept the notion that if it is used by those pompus pundits they so admire and look up to, it must be a brilliant strategy worthy of emulation.
As long as the average American fails to recognize and accept the idea, as threatening, that there is a wide open conspiracy to subjugate all the citizens of the world under the rule of a single governing body, eating chili dogs and watching fireworks while passing around petitions to join some kind of neighborhood watch program is not the answer.

Okay, this will be a long treatise. Sorry; no brief way to lay it all out, but I think it will be worth it for those of you who read it all. I hope you will be edified and encouraged to begin thinking tactically instead of continuing to stare and scream at the truck that ran you down!
I'm not telling "taktic" that there are no such evil people and there are no conspiracies; please re-read my post. I'm just cautioning this group against re-hashing the problems as we've done for so many years, while missing a tactical window to turn the tide.
I'll first describe how these domestic enemies of the Constitution operate through intermediary lapdogs in D.C.; then I'll describe how We the People can break their power by nabbing the intermediary lapdogs.
It's about money, as every good journalist and sleuth knows. Since the most ancient times it's always been about wealth. The nefarious families and their operatives want money, and 150 million of you (Taxpayers) allow them to take it. Actually, you allow their lapdogs in Congress to take it from every paycheck you ever received, using the IRS to do the dirty. IRS is the bag man, but it's Congress that demands those $3,000,000,000,000 per year (of which about 1/3 comes from Taxpayers' checks). So IRS works for the corrupt Congress, who work for the evil Money Powers.
Bust the middle man, and the whole chain breaks. That's the tactical tip of the spear.
I don't think it's delusional to think that the Money Power conspirators exist; the record is rife with evidence that powerful families of the world have conspired for centuries against the working masses. No; the delusion is believing that these people have magic power over you and can control your future whether you like it or not.
Their power over you derives from the MONEY you are allowing to go into the largest financial fraud in human history: the IRS scam. The $3 trillion per year in total federal revenues is the corrupting equivalent of 10,000 major drug cartels...all operating inside the D.C. Beltway. That is one very obvious, very corrupt organisation. Forget the ones pulling their strings, because we can't grab those families. They're too smart, and they're beyond our reach. Plus we don't NEED to nab them, if we can nab their puppets in our own government.
That's why I refer to it as the D.C. al-Qaeda, because the federal government is running a state-sponsored terror organisation using the IRS as the sleeper cells, to keep pulling in that torrent of cash. As long as they have that kind of cash pouring in, you will see precisely the wrong kind of people populating the three branches of federal government.
Those wicked, powerful families CAN'T DO A THING TO YOU WITHOUT CONGRESS as their operatives, tapping your wallet, your home, and your private life! They operate differently in every country in which they operate (most of them operate worldwide) but here in America, they MUST go through the U.S. Congress.
This is a critical tactical realisation; please let it sink in because you'll chase your tail forever if you don't get this point! Not the Bilderbugers, not the CFR, not the Illuminati...if you are still living in shackles it's THE U.S. CONGRESS that controls your daily life, your bank account, your privacy!
CONGRESS makes the laws that have been so perspicuously illegal; laws that are repugnant to the US Constitution and thus a nullity since they were first passed!
CONGRESS is the domestic sleeper cell that has operated on behalf of these International Money Powers for at least four generations!
If we had more statesmen instead of feckless, greedy, corrupt politicians in the US Congress, those internationalists would have not gotten as far as they have.
Incidentally, those who claim that voting is the American citizen's most important duty, are very far off the mark. In America, it is every citizen's duty to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States", especially when our public servants are violating their oath to do so, and instead are serving themselves. For 150 years, voting is all we have known as citizens. The internet has changed all that, and the civil governments (city, county, State, federal) haven't gotten the message yet.

But the tactical aspects of the America Again!project are:
*we bring every member of Congress home, every Independence Day. *there is no such thing as sovereign immunity for high crimes committed in office; that's a red herring

*there exists no precedent for a challenge to the federal government on this scale; this will be uncharted waters but as long as we obey the law and take the high road, we are safe. *this project includes re-forming the Militias of the Several States, the people's "liberty teeth" as George Washington called firearms. But it does not include the use of armed force or resistance in the project itself; when you have tens of millions of law-abiding productive citizens with the force of righteous indignation on our side, you have overwhelming force.
*a corollary to that point is what I like to tell attorneys that attempt to argue procedural mechanics ("the feds will just come and take custody of the perpetrator; the State DA can't do anything against federal operators"). We need to stop going in circles declaiming about the "monstrous, awesome, nefarious" power of private conspiracy organisations...and get their politician lapdogs by the short hairs. In public. Cameras rolling. If they refuse to show up for the Independence Day shindig (most of them will be chicken to show up, I suspect) this only makes them appear that much more guilty, and will build more momentum for the project in all these towns and cities.
They work in secret; we will work in the open.
They violate laws; we will obey laws and in fact enforce laws to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.
They have chosen the venue for generations: their smoke-filled rooms inside the Beltway, or the decks of their private yachts lying at anchor in the Mediterranean. Now WE will choose the venue! We will expose them by exposing their operatives, the corrupt members of the U.S. Congress, right in their own hometowns!
I don't own the project; it belongs to all Americans. If you live in the hometown of a U.S. congressman or senator and if you can pull together a group in your city by this Independence Day, then prayerfully consider running with the ball in your town!
Please read the Monetary Reform Act; realise it does need to have bimetallic currency backing added, but it's a starting place.
Please also read Dr. Vieira's book. He has been at the forefront of the debate on America's currency ever since he published the 1600-page Pieces of Eight, the definitive history of American currency. His book Constitutional Homeland Security is already hard to find (he needs to do a reprint) but you can order directly from him if you can't find one online in a bookstore.

David, in retrospect, that last paragraph I wrote did make it seem as if my post was, wholly, directed at you. It wasn't, but thanks for your clarification. I agree with most of the points you make. I was just venting my frustration with those who are allowing themselves, albeit unwittingly, to be used as pawns to minimize, marginalize and buffer the scope and magnitude of the crimes being perpetrated against the American people by the international banksters. The banksters control the money, the corporations and thusly the media and the lobbyists.
This topic deserves a much broader treatment and an in-depth discussion, but, for now, I need to go visit my mommy. Hopefully, I'll have time to return to it when I get back.

Situationist philosophy will help break the matrix. When it is understood that what passes as deception is in fact a knowing irony - an adsurdist distortion that illuminates as well as obfuscates - then the matrix becomes visible.

This ensures that the truth is not said, but that it must be inferred from the falsehoods that are presented. Stephen Colbert is an open practitioner of the technique. This is the door to the rabbit hole.

You have well-articulated a series of conclusions I generally do not agree with. The real question relative to BTM is if those who believe in controlling, evil, elites can tolerate those of us who don't. I tolerate your beliefs, but I believe the Matrix we want to break is mostly made up of bias, ignorance and apathy, not a series of dictates designed to enslave us.
Today, this disagreement can probably be expressed to you without generating significant flame in return. As the Daily Paul blog grew, a sentence like my first one here would conjure instant name-calling --- troll, dis-info agent, idiot, etc. Is that the fate of BTM? We'll see.

Your opinion is very easy for me to understand and respect because, your stated opinion was also my exact opinion 2 years ago. Besides, I actually wish that my old opinion (and your stated opinion) was true because it is far less devious than the one that I have outlined in the topic.
Flame-free zone?
Since we can not control the actions of others, it may not be possible to keep this as a completely “flame-free” zone. But, we can try! I have observed that the BTM group is generally well behaved with only a few exceptions. We can have our exchange regardless. I am sure that others will be interested in this exchange because this topic is one of the main dividing lines among us.

We both seem to agree on some of the end results (bias, ignorance and apathy). We both agree that the problems need to be addressed. We disagree on the cause.
Based on your response, I believe that it falls into my responsibility to attempt to show that;
1. There are groups which are elite which hold power (control) in the US and have an agenda that is mostly concealed from the general population.
2. These elite groups have evil intentions (I will need to define evil) for the United States
I will pick a group and present you with information to support my claims. Any comments before we start?
Yes, just one general comment. You're on a fool's errand, chasing after a bazillion evil people rather than learning to take focused, tactically-wise action to control what you can.
Conspiracy theorists flock to third parties because they feel marginalised. This marginalisation tends to make them even more paranoid, and the self-perpetuating 'spin machine' in the internet plebiscite turns the whole thing into a frenzy not unlike what one might find among 7th-graders in the school cafeteria, who began with an 'innocent' bit of gossip or an urban legend.
Now notice what I did NOT say:
1) I did not say that evil people do not exist, nor did I say that there is no such thing as conspiracy; the legal definition suggests that MANY conspiracies exist in America.
2) I did not say that I like the GOP or the donkey party.
However: I do say this...
1) the Libertarian Party, Constitution Party, Green Party, et al are even more disturbing in many ways than the major parties. This has to do with the nature of political discourse in our day, and the nature of political faction, which (as our founders said) is ever an engine of retrogression. Thus, while the two major parties may be corrupt and their average follower a pom-pom wielding cheerleader, the average 3rd party adherent is a nut-flake of the first order.

Sorry; I know I'm being harsh. But think about it while you're listing all the conspiracies and evil people in your head. You believe they're all-powerful? You've not yet seen the power of several million Americans with a tactical plan to put every member of Congress on a REAL hot-seat...and renew the public threat every Independence Day....and bolster it with lawful, organised militias.
I've repeatedly suggested that I doubt there will be a widespread restoration of this republic until the average citizen is humbly repentant and tactically wise. According to Scripture, the latter will follow the former. Of course atheists disbelieve this, but then atheists believe nothing so that's immaterial even if atheists make up a disproportionately larger segment of the libertarian types than of any other political camp in America. All families have that crazy uncle in the attic; you learn to get by. That's one challenge posed by the Ron Paul Revolution, alas.
Once we become more like our early forefathers in self-governance, and more like the citizens of Switzerland (in citizen marksmanship), we will be further from the dangerous watershed of becoming like the citizens of England -- disarmed 'wusses'.

When I said that focusing on the evil conspiracies only results in "more wacky folks", I was just stating a fact of modern American history, not making a personal judgment against anyone. And definitely NOT denying the existence of evil conspiracies.
When a person spends years (decades, even) worrying about (and/or exposing) wicked people in the private sector while having no recourse or relief from that perceived threat, they become increasingly paranoid; they think that all is lost.
As a Christian, I take a different, optimistic view. Obviously, the biggest 'prize' is eternal life, but history also eventually exalts the righteous if they're diligent and faithful. "Nice guys finish last" may be the motto of the Bilderburgers, Rothschilds, Rockefellers, et al...but it is not eternal reality.
Edmund Burke said, "(a)ll that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." A paralysed paranoid, no matter how well-informed about evil enemies, is still just "wacky folks" to the average citizen.
The enemies of America have been at their game for many generations. We must do much more than realise they exist, to shut down their game; we must be tactically wise.

Think of (or go look at) some of the forum discussions that include religious issues. Both sides argue but never seem to ponder the other point of view with an open mind.
It seem that my current topic falls into the same dilema. If I attempt to expose the Council On Foreign Relations, or the US Federal Reserve Bank (not federal - no reserves - elite - concealed - private banking cartel), then I get the "your wasting time" response.
I believe that most Americans are not even aware of the actions of these "boogeymen". To return your phrase, "I think that you are on a fools errand" ... if you believe that Americans will change without awareness of the problems. The current choices in the presidential race seems to prove this point. Most Americans don't even know that the Federal Reserve is not Federal. Most Americans don't know anything about the CFR, or its unconstitutional goals ("national boundaries should be obliterated").

The America Again! program every Independence Day would go like this:
1) read the declaration aloud, updating the bill of particulars (or bill of indictment, if you prefer) depending on how many illegal activities your particular member of Congress is still committing or supporting;
2) let people know there's a signup sheet for the local "Citizens' Homeland Security Association" (CHSA) which is the precursor to a local militia muster for that area of that State;
3) have chili dogs, soft drinks, and maybe some good ale/stout/lager, etc
4) enjoy an Independence Day fireworks show as the founders hoped we would

The point of my response was not to present an alternative viewpoint or begin a debate on these topics but to sow one general seed of tolerance very specifically on BTM. Because my clear experience demonstrates intolerance injures the effectiveness of sites like this, which injures the progress of the liberty movement. Whether you and I come to an agreement on 9/11 or the Bilderbergs is not relevant to the larger issue at hand which I have been so committed to for so long. I have reviewed countless videos and posts with an open mind, including one by a friend of yours, and have drawn my own conclusions. They are not compatible with yours. People have been talking about Illuminati and Bilderburgs for 50 years...what has that changed? Nothing! If you have a problem with well-regulated Militias of the Several States, take it up with the founders of the colonies and framers of the Constitution, not with me. The 'toothless gun nut' fringe is PRECISELY what we can avoid if/when we ever reinstate real militias in the States. The militia is supposed to be the 'homeland defense' in America, NOT a standing military that spends more than all other military forces on earth combined!
The only kind of national defense ever considered by the founders was plain old Americans, by city and town -- yes, of course with military-grade weapons equal to those they would face from any enemy, foreign or domestic!

If you read it, you'll understand that what I'm espousing as one aspect of the America Again! project is a return to constitutional national defense, not a mercenary military segment of America, that is too easily turned against their own people (as we've seen in so many other nations) and too easily used -- as President Eisenhower warned in his farewell address -- by the Military-Industrial Complex, to stretch its empire by "power projection".

As for the "don't teach Islam in government schools" section of the Declaration, I should think that many local groups will just take that out entirely; as I said, it's just a draft, offered in good faith. What people make of it is up to them. The point of it was that it is unfair to use political correctness to destroy this culture, which was demonstrably, manifestly Christian (as opposed to, say, Buddhist or Muslim).
If you can extract all religions from the government's teachings -- I PREFER THAT BY FAR. But today we have government schools teaching all sorts of aspects of Islam, New Age religion, Animism, et al...but marginalising Christianity. I thought it only proper to set the record straight about our history; as you see by surveying the world, not all religious systems lead to equivalent liberty, economics, law, etc.
